Best Case for an Edelkrone Slider?

Since my initial purchase several years ago, I had constantly wondered what the best case for my Edelkrone Slider Plus Pro – Large would be. It’s only till recently that Edelkrone themselves began offering a soft backpack type case. This will be a great option for many but I prefer a hard case solution for the sake of consistency with the rest of my kits and the additional protection.

When I made my first purchase from Edelkrone, I acquired the slider itself and a set of slider legs. Since then, I’ve been able to add the slide module v2 and remote to the kit. Until now, I had been transporting the slider in it’s original padded box with the add-ons in a tote. I wanted a case with enough space to accommodate all these pieces and possibly some future additions but my hope was to not take up an excessive amount of space needlessly as room in my office is limited.

After looking at everything from gun cases to storage bins I came to the conclusion that the Pelican Air 1555 was the perfect choice. The width is the perfect size for the slider and the height gives me room for the slide module, batteries, remote and additional tools with about 48 square inches to spare.

Deciding my layout before plucking.

The Pelican Air 1555 is super light and both dust and waterproof. It’s also available in a variety of colors. I chose pluckable foam but could have easily gone with a TrekPak divider kit. Watch the video below to see my case layout.

*Disclaimer: to be totally clear, this is perforated foam and not self plucking foam, but a video edited to look like it with a joke caption.

Above you can see I’ve been able to fit the slider, Slide Module, ac adapter, batteries, battery charger, remote and small bundle of tools all in the Pelican Air 1555 with not an unruly amount of space left over. Not only do I feel more confident arriving on set with my slider components bundled up as a kit but also feel safer renting/loaning it out knowing it’s all organized and protected.
